With the opening of the new Koala Hospital we are looking for new and reliable volunteers to help us with the wellbeing of the koalas and the continued success of the KCA vision and mission.

As a Koala Care volunteer you will play a critical role by providing hands-on care to wild koalas receiving treatment, care and rehabilitation at the Koala Hospital.

Our volunteers work across morning and afternoon shifts depending on your availability, 7 days a week, 365 days a year, and in all weathers.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience

  • Friendly, approachable team player with strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Effectively working as part of a passionate, high functioning volunteer team.
  • Ability to follow team leader instructions and set procedures for the care of koalas and be receptive to performing a range of tasks
  • Good level of physical fitness as it involves being on your feet for extended periods, cleaning of yards and indoor surfaces, cutting branches and carrying bundles of branches
  • Previous animal care is not essential as full training will be provided.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provide direct koala care by preparing and replenishing fresh leaf and water, ensuring the koalas have accessible food and water according to hospital protocols.
  • Maintain cleanliness of koala enclosures and hospital areas
  • Monitor and report on koala health and behaviour, notifying the team leader or veterinarian of any adverse changes or concerns.
