About the opportunity

Looking for a meaningful way to spend time outdoors and make a difference in your community?

Green Connect is looking for friendly, practical people to join our volunteer team at our beautiful 11 acre urban farm in Warrawong.

Our volunteers help us grow fresh, seasonal food using organic methods while supporting employment and training opportunities for former refugees and young people experiencing barriers to employment.

You do not need farming or gardening experience. Our team will show you what to do, and tasks can be matched to your interests, experience and physical abilities.

What you might do

Depending on the season and the needs of the farm, you may help with:

• Planting, weeding and caring for crops
• Harvesting vegetables, fruit and herbs
• Preparing garden beds
• Washing and packing produce
• Caring for farm areas and maintaining pathways
• Composting and other practical farm jobs

When

Volunteer days are:

• Wednesday, 9.00 am to 2.30 pm
• Thursday, 9.00 am to 2.30 pm
• Friday, 9.00 am to 2.30 pm

You can volunteer weekly, fortnightly or whenever your circumstances allow. You are welcome to choose the day or days that work best for you. There is no expectation that you attend all three days.

About Green Connect

Green Connect is a nonprofit social enterprise based in Warrawong. At the heart of our work is an 11 acre urban farm where we grow fresh food, welcome the community and create employment and training opportunities for former refugees and young people facing barriers to employment.

By volunteering with us, you will be helping to grow more than food. You will be helping people build skills, confidence and a pathway towards meaningful employment.
