Bethania Community Centre is looking for a friendly, caring volunteer to become our Little Explorers Host and help make Thursday mornings a highlight for local families.
Our Little Explorers Playgroup provides a safe, welcoming environment where babies, toddlers, parents, grandparents, and carers can come together to play, learn, and build lasting community connections. As our host, you'll help create an enjoyable and inclusive experience where every family feels welcome.
About Bethania Community Centre
Bethania Community Centre is a welcoming, not-for-profit organisation dedicated to strengthening our local community through programs, activities, support services, and opportunities that bring people together. We believe strong communities begin with strong connections, and our playgroup is one of the many ways we help local families feel supported and connected.
Key duties
As our Little Explorers Host, you will:
- Welcome families as they arrive and help everyone feel included.
- Assist with setting up and packing away the playgroup space.
- Help organise simple craft activities, sensory play, songs, and story time.
- Encourage children to learn through play in a fun and safe environment.
- Support parents, grandparents, and carers to connect with one another.
- Help maintain a clean, tidy, and welcoming play area.
- Work alongside our friendly team to ensure the program runs smoothly each week.
Skills and experience
No experience is necessary—we're looking for someone who:
- Enjoys spending time with young children and families.
- Has a warm, friendly, and welcoming personality.
- Is patient, caring, and encouraging.
- Communicates well with people of all ages.
- Is reliable and enjoys working as part of a team.
- Is enthusiastic about supporting the local community.
Experience in childcare, education, parenting, community services, or volunteering is welcomed but not required.

Additional requirements
As this role involves working with children, the successful volunteer will need to obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check (Blue Card). If you don't already have one, we'll guide you through the application process.
