Make a meaningful connection through friendship, conversation and shared interests!

Do you speak German and enjoy a good chat, solving Sudoku puzzles, or heading out to enjoy the local area? We’d love to hear from you!

Ageing with Grace is looking for a friendly, compassionate volunteer to visit an 88-year-old woman in the Cranbourne area through the Aged Care Volunteer Visitors Scheme (ACVVS).

Linda would love to connect with someone who speaks German and enjoys sharing conversation, reminiscing about life experiences, and perhaps tackling a Sudoku puzzle together. She would also enjoy the occasional outing and having someone to share these simple pleasures with.

What would you do?

  • Visit regularly and build a genuine friendship.
  • Share conversations in German, reminisce and exchange stories.
  • Enjoy solving Sudoku puzzles together.
  • Occasionally head out for a relaxed outing, depending on mutual interests and arrangements.

What are we looking for?

We're seeking someone who is:

  • A German speaker who enjoys connecting with older people.
  • Friendly, patient, reliable and a good listener.
  • Interested in sharing their time, conversation and hobbies.
  • Able to commit to regular visits, at least fortnightly (more often if you would like)
  • Most visits last for around one hour.

What we offer

  • A rewarding opportunity to make a real difference in someone's life.
  • Support and guidance from the Ageing with Grace team.
  • Appropriate training and a police check, at no cost to you.

You don't need previous volunteering experience — just a warm heart, a little time to spare, and a genuine interest in building a friendship.

You don't need volunteering or aged care experience.

Ageing with Grace provides training, a police check and ongoing support. Your role isn't to provide personal care — it's simply to be a friendly visitor and companion.

You might be a German speaker yourself, have family connections to German culture, or simply enjoy speaking the language and meeting new people.

One conversation in a familiar language can make someone feel understood, connected and remembered. ❤️
