Speak Mandarin? Bring Comfort, Connection & Friendship to an Older Lady

Mandarin Speaking Volunteer Visitor – Narre Warren North
A friendly conversation in your own language can brighten an entire day.
Whether you call her Āyí (Auntie) or simply a new friend, your visits could bring warmth, laughter, and connection to someone who would truly value your company.
Ageing with Grace is looking for a compassionate Mandarin-speaking volunteer to visit a gentle older lady living in an aged care home in Narre Warren North.
She enjoys the familiar comforts of Chinese television, traditional Chinese music, and spending time outdoors. One of her favourite activities is being taken for a peaceful stroll through the gardens in her princess chair, enjoying the fresh air and changing seasons.
Although she is cared for by dedicated staff, she has few visitors and would greatly value the companionship of someone who can chat with her in Mandarin and share simple moments of friendship.
Together, you might enjoy:
- 🌸 Taking relaxing walks through the garden
- 🎵 Listening to Chinese music together
- 📺 Watching Chinese television programs
- ☕ Sharing a warm conversation in Mandarin
- 😊 Building a friendship that brings comfort and connection
We're looking for someone who:
- Speaks conversational Mandarin
- Enjoys spending time with older people
- Can visit for around an hour, once a fortnight. (Visit more often if you like)
- Is kind, reliable, and ready to make a genuine difference
No previous volunteering or aged care experience is required.
Ageing with Grace provides comprehensive training, ongoing support, and everything you need to feel confident in your volunteer role.
Many volunteers tell us that these visits become one of the most rewarding parts of their week. A simple conversation, a walk in the garden, or sharing familiar music can mean more than you might imagine.
