As a Transport & Outings Volunteer, you'll support palliative care patients by providing transport and companionship to appointments and outings within their local community. Whether it's a visit to a cafรฉ โ, a stroll by the beach ๐, a trip to the shops ๐๏ธ, an art gallery ๐จ, or a medical appointment ๐ฅ, your time and support can help someone maintain independence, connection and quality of life.
Many of our patients are unable to drive themselves and greatly value the opportunity to get out of the house, enjoy meaningful activities, and spend time with a friendly companion. ๐คโค๏ธ
๐ About the Role
Drive patients to medical appointments and community outings
Provide companionship and a friendly presence during outings
Support patients to stay connected with their community
Communicate any changes or concerns to the Volunteer Coordinator
๐ We're Looking For Someone Who Is:
Warm, friendly and reliable
Enjoys conversation and building meaningful connections
Comfortable supporting people living with a serious illness
Patient, compassionate and respectful
A confident driver with a current driver's licence
Able to communicate effectively with staff and volunteers
โ Requirements
๐ Current driver's licence
๐ Access to a registered and insured vehicle
๐ Comprehensive motor vehicle insurance
๐ฎ National Police Check (organised and paid for by HammondCare)
๐ Willingness to meet required health screening and immunisation requirements
