ACTIVITIES ASSISTANT – IPSWICH THRIVING SENIORS (BOOVAL)

Y Queensland is looking for enthusiastic and compassionate Activities Assistants to support the running of our social groups at the Booval Fair Shopping Centre. These social group such as craft, bingo and mahjong promote a sense of connectedness and enhance senior’s mental wellbeing. This role supports a variety of activities designed to keep seniors active, connected, and engaged.
What you’ll do:
- Assist with setting up and running daily programs (e.g. gentle exercise, bingo, mahjong)
- Greet participants, direct visitors and assist with sign-in and activity payments
- Assist with setting up tea/coffee and morning tea for participants
- Help maintain a safe, inclusive, and friendly environment
- Provide general assistance to Y Queensland staff as needed
What we’re looking for:
- A friendly, patient, and respectful attitude
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- A genuine interest in working with older adults
- Willingness to complete a Blue Card, police check and Y Queensland Volunteer Training
