Child Witness Support Volunteer - State-wide

PACT Child Witness Support Volunteers provide practical, trauma-informed support to child witnesses and their carers as they navigate the court process. Volunteers provide factual information about court procedures, helping children and young people understand what to expect and feel more prepared to give evidence.

Throughout the life of a matter, volunteers maintain appropriate contact with children, young people and their carers, accompany child witnesses to meet with the prosecutor and view their recorded police statement, and provide reassurance and support while they wait to give evidence. Where permitted by the court, volunteers also accompany the child while they give their evidence.

Volunteers complete case records promptly following court appearances and work collaboratively with key justice partners, including the Queensland Police Service, the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions, the Department of Child Safety, court staff and fellow PACT volunteers to ensure coordinated support for children and their families.
