The Role: In this volunteer role, you’ll be paired with an ageing senior to provide regular social support visits in her home. Activities are guided by shared interests and may include conversation, listening to music, playing board games or simply enjoying a relaxed chat. Visits are approximately 2 hours and focused on building trust, confidence and companionship. Our Client: You’ll be supporting a woman in her mid 80s who lives alone with her friendly rescue poodle. She classifies herself as an animal lover of dogs and horses, trained as a Nurse and Midwife, worked with horses in Tasmania and did hospitality training. She also volunteered running a Cancer Support Group. She lives with chronic pain and finds it difficult to stay focused, including many tangential details in her conversations that detract from the topic. She has a goal to remain at home with the support of services for as long as she can. This is where you come in! Through your weekly social support visits you will assist this individual to continue to live at home with meaningful social connection. For You:

About You:
- Lives in and around Camperdown or is happy to travel.
- Possess clear communication skills.
- Compassionate, patient and an excellent listener.
- Passionate about giving back to your community.
- Conducts yourself with open-mindedness and respect, ensuring the privacy, confidentiality, and dignity of our clients is always maintained.
- Comfortable using technology to provide feedback and connect with the Volunteer Program.
- Availability for a flexible six-month commitment.
