EGA is seeking an experienced and motivated Research and Knowledge Management Volunteer to support the generation, organisation, synthesis and communication of evidence relating to landscape restoration, sustainable agriculture, agroforestry, climate resilience, biodiversity and livelihoods.
The volunteer will have the opportunity to contribute to EGA by strengthening its research and knowledge-management systems, document lessons from programs and partnerships, and translate technical information into accessible knowledge products for practitioners, policymakers, donors, investors and communities.
Volunteer Activities - Depending on experience and availability, volunteers may support in:
- Conducting literature reviews, evidence syntheses and research on landscape restoration, climate resilience and sustainable agriculture
- Supporting research design, data collection, analysis and the development of evidence-based recommendations
- Developing policy briefs, technical reports, case studies, publications and other knowledge products
- Organising and improving EGA's knowledge management systems, including research resources, document repositories and information-sharing processes
- Supporting webinars, learning events and collaboration with researchers, practitioners and partner organisations
- Promoting high standards of research quality, ethical practice, information management and knowledge sharing
Essential qualifications and experience
- Minimum 2 years of relevant professional, academic or applied research experience
- Relevant qualification in environmental science, forestry, agriculture, natural-resource management, climate change, development studies, knowledge management, information science, social science or related discipline
- Demonstrated experience conducting literature reviews, research or evidence synthesis
- Experience preparing technical reports, research papers, briefs or other knowledge products
- Strong research, analytical and critical-thinking skills
- Good written and verbal communication skills (English)
- Strong attention to quality, accuracy, referencing and detail
- Ability to organise complex information clearly and systematically
- Ability to manage agreed activities within mutually agreed timeframes

Desirable qualifications and experience
- Postgraduate qualification in a relevant discipline
- Experience in landscape restoration, agroforestry, sustainable agriculture, climate resilience, biodiversity, carbon, livelihoods or natural-resource governance
- Experience undertaking systematic or scoping reviews
- Familiarity with reference-management software (e.g Zotero, Mendeley or EndNote)
- Experience using research databases (e.g Web of Science, Scopus, Google Scholar or OpenAlex)
- Experience with qualitative or quantitative data-analysis software
- Experience developing institutional knowledge-management systems and preparing policy briefs, journal articles or donor reports
Volunteer Arrangements
- Location: Remote
- Duration: Approx. 3-6 months (either party may conclude the arrangement at any time)
- EGA Contact: Head of Programs
- Outputs: Activities or agreed contributions will be discussed and documented prior to the volunteer's assignment
