Volunteer Visitors Wanted in Birkdale – Make a Difference in Someone's Life

Do you speak French, Sicilian or German?
St John Ambulance QLD is looking for caring volunteers to join the Aged Care Volunteer Visitor Scheme (ACVVS) and bring companionship to older people who would benefit from regular social connection.
Many older people living in residential aged care or receiving Home Care Packages experience loneliness and would love to spend time with someone who speaks their language.
As an ACVVS volunteer, you could:
Share a friendly conversation over a cup of tea.
Talk in your shared language.
Play cards, games, or listen to music together.
Read newspapers or books.
Share stories, memories and cultural traditions.
Simply provide companionship and brighten someone's day.
No special experience is required—just kindness, reliability, and a willingness to make a meaningful difference.
A commitment of around one hour per fortnight can have a lasting impact on an older person's wellbeing and quality of life.
