Help Shape the Future of Arise Community Support

Arise Community Support is a not-for-profit community-based organisation supporting children, young people, and their families across Eastern Lake Macquarie. Through our drop-in centres, school-based programs, and individualised support, we work alongside young people to strengthen their wellbeing, safety, and independence – keeping their voice at the centre of decisions that affect them.

The Opportunity

As a Board Member, you will help guide the direction of the organisation – providing governance oversight and shaping strategic priorities. As a small community-based organisation, our board is hands-on: alongside our governance role, members contribute their time to initiatives that strengthen practice quality and drive continuous improvement, helping the organisation grow and thrive.

Commitment

The Board meets monthly (mix of online & face to face), with members contributing between meetings where reasonably required. Board members are expected to actively participate in discussions, decision-making and occasional initiatives that support the ongoing success of the organisation. A general time commitment is expected to be 5 hours per month.

What You'll Bring

  • A genuine commitment to the purpose and values of Arise Community Support
  • The ability to contribute at a governance and strategic level
  • Professional skills, experience or expertise that will help strengthen the Board and support the organisation's ongoing success
  • Ability to attend and actively contribute to Board meetings, with a commitment to confidentiality, integrity and sound judgement.

We welcome interest from people with a range of backgrounds and experiences, but are particularly interested in people with demonstrable skills or experience in:

  • Legal, governance, or compliance
  • Risk management, assurance, or audit
  • Strategic planning or organisational development
