Community Welcome & Engagement Coordinator

Help build the community behind CFLS

Help create a volunteer experience where people feel welcomed, useful, supported and proud to contribute.

The Community French Language School Inc. is establishing a multicultural education and cultural hub at Kirra Hill on the southern Gold Coast.

French is our starting point—but connection is our purpose. Through language learning, creative programmes, cultural events and shared community experiences, we aim to bring children, adults, families and community partners together.

We are looking for a warm, organised and community-minded person to help shape the CFLS volunteer experience from the beginning.

This is a supported volunteer role. You will work alongside the CFLS Project Director and authorised team members on clearly agreed projects. You will not be expected to run the organisation, make final recruitment decisions or carry sole responsibility for coordinating its volunteers.

Choose your project stream

Depending on your interests, experience and availability, you may contribute through one or more of these streams:

Launch Sprint: Help prepare our first volunteer opportunities, welcome materials and expression-of-interest process.

Welcome Sessions: Help create friendly and inclusive volunteer induction and orientation experiences.

Community Connection: Welcome enquiries, learn about people’s interests and help them explore approved CFLS opportunities.

Volunteer Experience Project: Develop recognition ideas, check-ins, feedback tools or practical improvements to the volunteer journey.

Event-Based Support: Help welcome and coordinate approved volunteers during selected cultural or community activities.

Projects and activities are offered in advance. You may accept or decline them according to your interests and availability.

What you might help create-Within an agreed project, you may help:

• welcome volunteer enquiries and explain approved opportunities;

• arrange informal Discovery Conversations;

• learn about volunteers’ interests, skills and availability;

• help prepare induction sessions and practical information;

• send approved invitations, confirmations and reminders;

• gather feedback about the volunteer experience;

• connect volunteers with policies, induction and training information;

• develop recognition and appreciation initiatives;

• maintain authorised contact and participation records;

• contribute de-identified information to approved reports; and

• refer safety, safeguarding, privacy, conduct or wellbeing concerns to the appropriate CFLS officer.

During the foundation stage, you could also help design a volunteer welcome journey, prepare a Shape the Hub evening, create a skills-matching activity or test a simple check-in and feedback system.

All activities are subject to CFLS approval and its privacy, safety and child-safeguarding requirements.

• believe volunteering should be meaningful, flexible and mutually respectful.

Experience in volunteer engagement, human resources, administration, community services or not-for-profit work is welcome but not essential.

French-language skills are appreciated but are not required.
