Organisation description
Fisher St Incorporated is a non-profit organisation delivering the Hangeul Festival, a community event celebrating Korean language, culture, food and traditions.
The festival is supported and endorsed by Moonee Valley City Council through its Community Development Team’s World Café initiative.
Position description
Fisher St Incorporated is seeking volunteers to help deliver the Hangeul Festival at Djerring Flemington Hub. The festival will include Korean name writing, traditional games, food and drink tasting, a hanbok photo area and community information activities.
Volunteers can select up to three preferred areas when applying.
- Event hosting: Help make announcements, introduce activities and guide attendees through the event.
- Hanbok and photo area: Welcome visitors and support the Korean traditional clothing experience and photo zone.
- Korean name writing: Assist visitors taking part in the Hangeul name-writing activity.
- Community corner: Help share information about Korean language, culture and local businesses.
- Food and drink tasting: Support the tasting area and help keep it welcoming and organised.
- Traditional games: Help explain Korean games and encourage visitors to take part.
- Logistics and general support: Assist with setup, pack-down and practical tasks throughout the day.
Event details
- Location: Djerring Flemington Hub, 25 Mt Alexander Road, Flemington
- Date: Saturday 10 October 2026
- Festival hours: 12.00 pm to 3.00 pm
- Volunteer hours: 9.00 am to 5.00 pm.
Full-day volunteers are especially encouraged. Volunteers can be part of the festival from setup through to pack-down, with additional benefits available for those who commit to the full day.
Flexible shifts are also available for those who cannot commit to the full day.
Volunteer requirements
Volunteers must:
- Already hold a current Working with Children Check
- Complete Fisher St Incorporated’s volunteer form, which will be provided in the automatic acknowledgement email after expressing interest
- Provide emergency contact details and agree to the Volunteer Code of Conduct, Child Safety and Wellbeing Policy, and Child Safety Reporting Procedure as part of the form
- Attend a volunteer induction via Zoom in September
- Help create a safe, welcoming and respectful environment
