Help tell the story of a community taking shape

Every community begins with a story: why it exists, who it welcomes and what it hopes to make possible.

The Community French Language School Inc. is establishing a multicultural education and cultural hub at Kirra Hill on the southern Gold Coast.

French is our starting point—but connection is our purpose. Through language learning, creative programmes, cultural events and shared experiences, CFLS aims to bring children, adults, families and community partners together.

We are looking for a thoughtful, creative and community-minded volunteer to help communicate this vision through clear, warm and engaging content.

You may contribute to one campaign, create content for a defined project or support occasional communication activities that match your interests and skills. You will work from approved information under the guidance of the CFLS Project Director or an authorised Communications Lead.

This is a supported creative role. You will not be expected to manage all CFLS communications, publish independently or act as an official spokesperson.

Choose how you contribute

Depending on your interests and experience, you may contribute through one or more pathways:

Community Storytelling
Help develop stories about CFLS activities, volunteers, community partners and the development of the Kirra Hill hub.

Social Media Content
Help prepare approved captions, visual concepts, short videos, carousels or content ideas for CFLS channels.

Newsletter Project
Help plan, draft or assemble sections of a community newsletter using approved information and templates.

Website Content
Help make programme, community and organisational information clear, welcoming and easy to understand.

Event Communications
Help prepare approved invitations, event descriptions, signs, programmes, reminders and follow-up messages.

Content Planning
Help organise an editorial calendar, campaign checklist, content library or approval workflow.

Photography and Visual Stories
Where separately authorised, help capture approved places, resources or activities in accordance with CFLS consent, privacy and child-safety requirements.

Activities are offered in advance. You may accept or decline them according to your interests, skills and availability.

What you could help with

Depending on the agreed project, you may:

  • draft social media captions, newsletter items and short website content;
  • transform approved programme information into clear, engaging public communication;
  • suggest content themes aligned with CFLS’s educational and community purpose;
  • help prepare content calendars and campaign checklists;
  • assist with approved event invitations, reminders and follow-up communications;
  • create simple graphics or layouts using approved brand templates;
  • help organise approved photographs, graphics and communication assets;
  • prepare first drafts of community, volunteer or partner stories;
  • interview authorised participants using approved questions and consent arrangements;
  • proofread content for clarity, spelling, tone and consistency;
  • help adapt information for different audiences and channels;
  • support bilingual content preparation where appropriately skilled;
  • check links, dates, contact details and calls to action before approval;
  • help gather de-identified communication and engagement results;
  • suggest ways to make CFLS communication more inclusive and accessible; and
  • identify outdated, unclear or potentially sensitive content for supervisor review.

All material must be reviewed and approved by an authorised CFLS representative before publication or distribution.

A project you could help shape

All projects remain subject to CFLS approval, current programme information, available resources and applicable privacy, consent, copyright, safety and safeguarding requirements.

This opportunity may suit you if you

  • enjoy turning ideas into clear and engaging stories;
  • write thoughtfully and adapt your style for different audiences;
  • are creative while remaining comfortable with review and approval processes;
  • notice inaccurate dates, inconsistent information or unclear wording;
  • understand the importance of privacy, consent and confidentiality;
  • communicate respectfully across cultures and generations;
  • are comfortable using tools such as Canva, email platforms or social media planning systems;
  • can receive constructive feedback and revise your work;
  • understand that community storytelling must protect people’s dignity;
  • ask before using an image, quotation, name or personal story; and
  • can maintain a consistent organisational voice.
