The BCR Communities Second Chance Op Shop is now open and seeking volunteers who are looking for an opportunity to support your local community.

This initiative supports our community through affordable clothing and household goods. It is also a space where staff and volunteers provide mentoring to local young people to build skills and confidence. Volunteers will assist with welcoming customers, sorting and pricing donated items, displaying stock, and helping keep the shop tidy and organised. Individuals suitable for this role will also enjoy working with young people and be well-suited to supporting their learning, growth, and confidence in a safe and encouraging environment.

Operating Mondays from 10.00am to 1.00pm, we are seeking volunteers who can support the Op Shop Mondays 9am-2pm.

This opportunity would suit individuals who have good customer service skills and is friendly and welcoming, an interest in retail, fashion, or recycling/reuse, a willingness to work with donated goods and sorting items, basic cash handling or retail experience (helpful but not essential), reliability and ability to work well as part of a team and an interest in supporting community programs.

BCR will support volunteers with training on commencement and throughout their time at BCR. This will include training in such areas as organisational and job specific orientation, health and safety induction and child safety, and in-house retail and service delivery training.

BCR is committed to the safety and wellbeing of all community members, importantly all children and young people. We have a zero-tolerance approach to child abuse. Given the nature of our services and the community members we support, volunteers will require a Working With Children clearance, NDIS Disability Worker Screening, and Police Check, all of which BCR will support you with in obtaining throughout the recruitment process.
