BCR Communities Low Cost Food Pantry Volunteer

BCR Communities is a local, community-led not-for-profit organisation that has been supporting people across the Shoalhaven and Illawarra for over 35 years. Our services span aged care, NDIS supports, community programs, volunteering, social enterprises and emergency relief - all delivered with a strong focus on connection, dignity and inclusion.

We are excited to announce the BCR Communities Low Cost Food Pantry will be opening soon and we are seeking volunteers who are looking for an opportunity to support your local community.

Operating Mondays and Tuesdays from 10:00am – 1:00pm the BCR Pocket Pantry will provide low-cost groceries and essential items to support people in our community. We are seeking volunteers who can support the Pantry on Mondays and Tuesdays 9am-2pm.

Volunteers will be supported by BCR Communities team members and will help with welcoming customers, stocking shelves, basic food handling, and maintaining a friendly and respectful environment for everyone who visits.

This opportunity would suit individuals who are friendly and approachable with good communication and customer service skills, confident interacting with a diverse range of community members, able to lift light boxes and restock shelves, reliable and able to work cooperatively as part of a supportive team and are interested in community support or food relief programs.

While not essential, basic cash handling or retail experience would be helpful. BCR will support volunteers with training on commencement and throughout their time at BCR. This will include training in such areas as organisational and job specific orientation, health and safety induction and child safety, food handling and in-house retail and service delivery training

BCR is committed to the safety and wellbeing of all community members, importantly all children and young people. We have a zero-tolerance approach to child abuse. Given the nature of our services and the community members we support, volunteers will require a Working With Children clearance, NDIS Disability Worker Screening, and Police Check, all of which BCR will support you with in obtaining throughout the recruitment process.
