Lifeline South Coast is seeking a passionate and experienced volunteer Board Member with a background in accounting, finance or similar to join our Board.

As a community-based, not-for-profit organisation, we are committed to preventing suicide, supporting people in crisis, and building resilient communities across the Illawarra, Shoalhaven and South Coast. We contribute to national services such as 131114 and 13YARN; and deliver local services including Connect Hubs, Community Kitchen, training and education, and support groups. Our retail outlets and Big Book Fair events raise crucial funds to support our service delivery.

We are looking for someone who can bring financial expertise and strategic insight to help guide the organisation through its next stage of growth.

About the role

As a volunteer Board Member, you are expected to contribute to the development of the strategic direction of the organisation, financial stewardship, and good governance.

The estimated time commitment is 3-5 hours per month including preparation and readings for meetings, attendance at meetings, and follow up as required. In addition, there is typically 1 full day sessions per year. There is an opportunity to attend some meetings virtually.

About you

You are committed to making a meaningful, positive impact on the local community through your contribution to the Board. You believe that suicide is preventable, and no one should face their toughest moments alone.

You are prepared to ask tough questions, work cooperatively and collaboratively.

You are able to commit the required time to the role.

We are particularly interested in applicants with experience in:

· Accounting or financial management

· Financial reporting and analysis

· Budgeting and forecasting

· Audit

Previous Board experience is welcomed but not essential. We encourage applications from finance professionals who are looking to make a meaningful contribution to their community.
