Community Storyteller (Volunteer)
Role Purpose
Support Oot’s communication and storytelling by creating simple, meaningful content that reflects community impact, keeps volunteers informed, and builds external credibility.
What You’ll Do
- Manage and maintain Oot’s LinkedIn presence, sharing updates on community impact, partnerships, and milestones.
- Prepare and distribute a regular volunteer newsletter, including updates, highlights, volunteer welcomes/farewells, and curated content.
- Create and share simple, meaningful content that reflects Oot’s community, values, and impact (e.g., volunteer highlights, event reflections).
- Plan and create content to recognise selected cultural and community moments aligned with Oot’s activities.
- Support consistency in tone, messaging, and overall communication approach.
What You’ll Bring
- Comfortable using Canva for creating simple graphics and content
- Comfortable using or willing to learn Beehiiv for newsletter and Campfire Stories publishing
- Strong written communication skills
- Passion for community storytelling and LGBTQIA+ inclusion
- An interest in attending Oot & Aboot events where possible

What Volunteering with Oot Looks Like
- Most roles are 2–4 hours per week
- Work is flexible and remote (unless events are involved)
- You’ll have a clear role and reporting line
- You’ll use simple tools like ClickUp and Google Drive

How We Work Together

- We keep things clear, respectful, and supportive
- You’ll have monthly check-ins with your reporting line
- There are also optional check-ins or group catch-ups
