Rethink Australia Foundation Ltd is a youth-led environmental organisation empowering students and schools to drive sustainability through education, technology and community action.
Our work brings together environmental education, student leadership, technology-enabled solutions and partnerships to create meaningful and measurable change. As Rethink Australia grows, we are seeking an experienced Grants and Philanthropy Advisor to help develop a strategic and sustainable approach to grant funding and philanthropic engagement.
The volunteer will provide strategic guidance on how Rethink Australia identifies suitable funding opportunities, presents its work to funders and strengthens the quality and consistency of grant and philanthropic materials.
Key responsibilities
• Advise on the development of a grants and philanthropy strategy
• Help identify appropriate grant programs, trusts, foundations and philanthropic funding pathways
• Provide guidance on assessing the suitability and strategic value of funding opportunities
• Review grant applications, expressions of interest and supporting materials
• Help strengthen organisational narratives, funding cases and descriptions of intended outcomes
• Advise on developing reusable information and materials for future funding applications
• Provide guidance on building professional relationships with philanthropic organisations and funding bodies
• Help establish a structured approach to tracking prospective funding opportunities and application requirements
About you
We are seeking a skilled professional with demonstrated experience in one or more of the following areas:
• Grant strategy or grant development
• Philanthropy
• Trusts and foundations
• Institutional fundraising
• Government funding programs
• Funding submissions and expressions of interest
• Not-for-profit development
• Program or funding assessment
Experience developing funding strategies or grant submissions for charities, foundations, educational organisations, environmental organisations or other established institutions will be highly regarded.
The successful applicant will be able to provide strategic guidance beyond an individual grant application and help Rethink Australia establish a credible, repeatable and sustainable funding approach.

The role is fully remote and designed to be flexible around professional commitments. An initial engagement of up to six months is anticipated, requiring approximately two to four hours per month.
