Volunteer Monitoring, Evaluation & Impact Officer
Rethink Australia Foundation Ltd is a youth-led environmental organisation helping schools and students reduce waste through education, technology and practical action.
As Rethink Australia grows, we are seeking an analytical and practical Volunteer Monitoring, Evaluation & Impact Officer to help us measure, understand and communicate the outcomes of our programs.
This role will help establish proportionate systems for measuring participation, learning, behavioural change and waste-related outcomes across school programs, interschool challenges and technology-enabled initiatives.
Key responsibilities
• Help develop a practical monitoring and evaluation framework
• Define clear outputs, outcomes, indicators and data requirements
• Design surveys, feedback forms and simple data collection tools
• Support baseline and follow-up measurement where appropriate
• Develop methods for measuring participation, learning and behavioural change
• Help define suitable waste and sustainability metrics
• Create templates for program reporting and impact summaries
• Review available data for quality, consistency and limitations
• Analyse quantitative and qualitative information
• Translate findings into clear insights for internal and external audiences
• Support evidence-based grant, sponsor and partnership materials
• Help distinguish verified results from pilots, projections and long-term goals
• Recommend practical improvements to data collection and reporting
• Maintain organised records, methodologies and supporting evidence
• Collaborate with program, curriculum, technology and partnerships volunteers
About you

The successful applicant will have strong analytical skills, attention to detail and the ability to turn organisational goals into realistic measures and reporting processes.
Applicants should be comfortable working with both quantitative and qualitative information, explaining limitations and avoiding unsupported claims. Strong written communication and spreadsheet skills are important.
Experience with Excel, Power BI, survey platforms, data visualisation or statistical tools is highly regarded but not essential. Previous professional experience is also highly regarded, although students, recent graduates, researchers and emerging evaluation professionals are encouraged to apply.
Relationship to other roles
The Monitoring, Evaluation & Impact Officer will develop measurement approaches and analyse program information. Program volunteers may collect approved data, while communications, grants and partnerships volunteers may use verified findings in external materials.
This role does not independently approve public impact claims. Findings and external reports must be reviewed by Rethink Australia before publication or distribution.

Location and commitment
The role is online or remote friendly. Approximately three to five hours per month is anticipated for an initial period of up to six months. Work is flexible, with priorities, milestones and deadlines agreed in advance.
