Access Sydney is currently recruiting volunteers across a range of rewarding roles in Sydney’s City, Inner West and Eastern Suburbs. As a not-for-profit organisation, we provide accessible and affordable transport and social support services to older people, people with disability, and those who are transport disadvantaged. Our volunteers are at the heart of what we do.

Volunteer Roles Available

Home Visiting - Help reduce social isolation by visiting older clients in their homes for friendly conversation and companionship. Commitment: Minimum 2 hours per fortnight for at least 3 months You will: • Provide social connection and companionship • Build positive, respectful relationships • Complete brief visit reports • Travel independently to client homes Perfect for compassionate individuals who enjoy meaningful one-on-one conversations.

Shopping Assistant - Do you enjoy helping others and don’t mind a few laps of the supermarket? We’re looking for friendly, practical volunteers to support older people during their regular shopping trips. This is a hands-on role where your presence genuinely makes someone’s week easier and brighter. You will: • Meet at a local shopping centre • Spend approximately 3-4 hours assisting them in-store – weekly/fortnightly • Help navigate the supermarket safely and comfortably • Assist with reaching items and reading labels if needed • Provide support at the checkout • Help with carrying bags to the vehicle • Offer friendly conversation and social connection along the way This role is more than groceries – it’s about confidence, independence and companionship.
