Wildlife Hospital Volunteer Pool

Love wildlife but can’t commit to a regular shift? You can still make a difference.

Are you passionate about helping wildlife in need? Byron Bay Wildlife Hospital is looking for enthusiastic and reliable people to join our Hospital Volunteer Pool, supporting our veterinary team in caring for sick, injured and orphaned native wildlife.

We understand that committing to the same shift every week isn’t possible for everyone. Our Volunteer Pool offers greater flexibility, giving you the opportunity to help when additional volunteer support is needed and your availability allows.

What You’ll Be Doing

As a member of our Hospital Volunteer Pool, you may help with a range of important tasks, including:

• Learning how to assist with the admission of wildlife patients arriving at the hospital
• Preparing specialised diets for a variety of wildlife patients
• Cleaning and maintaining enclosures and hospital areas
• Assisting with laundry, cleaning and general hospital duties
• Restocking and organising supplies
• Supporting our veterinary team with appropriate day-to-day tasks
• Helping maintain a safe, clean and organised environment for wildlife to recover

Every task plays a part in supporting our veterinary team and the animals in our care.

Flexible Volunteering

Our Volunteer Pool is ideal for people who would love to contribute but may not be able to commit to a regular weekly roster.

When additional support or shifts become available, members of the pool may be contacted to see who is available to help.

While flexibility is a key part of the role, we’re looking for volunteers who are dependable and committed when they accept a shift.

No Experience? No Problem.

Previous wildlife or veterinary experience is not required.

We provide the training and guidance you need to feel comfortable and confident in your volunteer role. What matters most is a positive attitude, willingness to learn and genuine commitment to wildlife welfare.
