The Boroondara Volunteer Resource Centre is advertising this opportunity on behalf of BASSCARE.
Are you friendly, organised, and enjoy helping older adults stay active and connected? We are looking for enthusiastic volunteers to assist with our weekly exercise and social programs.
About the Role: Classes are held at 10:00am and 11:00am, with each session running for one hour, including a water break halfway through. Following each class, participants enjoy a social morning tea, providing a wonderful opportunity for connection and conversation.
Volunteer Responsibilities Before the Classes: Set up the hall with chairs. Prepare the water station with cups and water jug. Set up the registration table with name badges and attendance sheet. Move the equipment box (on wheels) into the hall. Prepare the morning tea area with tea, coffee, biscuits, serviettes, cups and saucers.
During the Program: Welcome participants as they arrive. Mark attendance on the sign-in sheet. Assist participants as needed throughout the session. Escort clients to the morning tea area after the class. Serve tea, coffee and refreshments.
After the Program: Clear and tidy the morning tea area. Wash dishes using the industrial dishwasher and put them away. If a Food Services Assistant (FSA) is available, they will undertake the dishwashing duties.
Skills and Qualities: Friendly and welcoming manner. Good communication and interpersonal skills. Reliable and punctual. Able to assist with light lifting and setting up equipment. Enjoy working with older people and supporting social inclusion.
