Every photograph, document and recorded memory holds part of Canning’s story. The City of Canning is seeking a reliable and detail-focused volunteer to support the preservation and accessibility of its Local History collection.
Working under the guidance of the Local History Specialist, your primary focus will be digitizing photographs, documents and other collection materials, as well as entering and updating information in electronic records.
Depending on current projects, you may also:
- Research newspapers, publications and online resources.
- Help identify and describe photographs and historical records.
- Transcribe oral history interviews and audiovisual materials.
- Organize and prepare collection materials for storage, displays or community projects.

You will need:
- Basic computer and data-entry skills.
- Strong accuracy and attention to detail.
- A patient and careful approach to tasks.
- A willingness to follow handling, privacy and confidentiality requirements.
- An interest in local history, heritage or research (desirable but not essential).
