Are you curious about the local natural environment and want to have a positive impact on urban ecology? Would you like to meet similar people and make new friends while venturing out into nature? Are you interested in learning about native flora and fauna?
Consider joining up as a volunteer with the City of Parramatta's Bushcare program!
Bushcare groups meet once a month for approximately 3 hours at sites across the LGA. A Bushcare group is made up of dedicated volunteers (like yourself) plus a professional supervisor who acts as a mentor for the group, providing training on safe, correct bush regeneration techniques. Bushcare volunteers work to restore degraded bushland through the removal of weeds, protection and planting of native flora plus environmental surveying and monitoring.
Bushcare groups meet on weekends, and weekdays. Attendance is not mandatory, and you can choose to join one or multiple Bushcare groups! All tools and training are supplied.
Bushcare volunteers are also offered exclusive training and social opportunities such as night bushwalks, birdwatching days and biological survey training.
Everyone is welcome, although children under 18 must be accompanied by a responsible adult guardian.
Upon applying you will be sent a link to sign up to be a Bushcare volunteer.
