Tutors/Mentors for children/young people from refugee and migrant backgrounds
Advertised by Volunteering WAVolunteers are needed to offer care and support to children of refugee/migrant backgrounds at their schools. Children of refugee/migrant backgrounds often feel isolated and anxious and subsequently withdraw from classroom participation. A caring and supportive volunteer, who is willing to build a trusting relationship, can make the world of difference by assisting a child, or small group of children, to tackle classroom tasks and therefore build confidence and self-esteem. Volunteers are assigned to a primary school and are expected to attend for three hours per week, during school hours, for the school year. Applications are now open for our next intake.
