π Share a Walk, a Smile and a Little Greek Conversation π
A friendly gentleman living in a residential aged care home in Hurstville would enjoy spending time with a Greek-speaking volunteer who can share conversation, companionship and connection. π€β¨
Having grown up in Greece and migrated to Australia in his 20s, he has lived a rich and interesting life. While dementia has made it harder for him to communicate in English, he remains warm, good-natured and enjoys the comfort of hearing his first language spoken. π¬
πΆββοΈ Your visits might include:
- Enjoying a stroll around the neighbourhood π³πΏ
- Playing simple games together π²βοΈ
- Sharing stories and conversation in Greek βπ
- Offering friendship and companionship π
This role would suit a patient, confident and compassionate volunteer who understands that meaningful connection comes in many forms, especially for someone living with dementia. π
A friendly face, a shared language and time spent together can help bring comfort, joy and a sense of belonging each week. ππ‘
