VOLUNTEER DRIVERS NEEDED – HELPING CHILDREN WITH CANCER
Childhood Cancer Support Inc supported by Volunteering Queensland

We’re looking for reliable volunteer drivers to help support children and families going through childhood cancer.
Patient Transport Drivers
We require caring volunteers to transport our patients and their families to and from our accommodation in Herston, East and South Brisbane to the Queensland Children's Hospital in South Brisbane, so the children can receive their oncology treatments at the hospital. The role is based at our Herston accommodation village.
You will also do airport pickups and drop offs along with collecting and delivering meals and food packages to families who are caring for a child with cancer, helping take one more worry off their shoulders.
Who we’re looking for:
- Reliable and compassionate people
- Safe and responsible drivers
- People who are comfortable around children with cancer and their families
- A current driver’s licence
- Volunteers who can commit to occasional or regular shifts
Your time could make a huge difference to a family during one of the most difficult times of their lives.
Every trip, every meal, and every act of kindness helps.
Shifts can be split into morning or afternoon shifts, or you can choose to stay the full day. Shifts are Monday to Friday only. No weekend work.
There will be other light duties available in between transport runs so you will always have something to do.
As a volunteer at Childhood Cancer Support you will be welcomed into a small, friendly and committed team who value reliability and commitment. Our overall goal is to ensure that all our regional paediatric oncology families staying in our accommodation houses are provided with a home away from home environment so they can concentrate on the health and wellbeing of their sick child.
Ability to drive a 10-seater Toyota Hiace van (with wheelchair accessibility in the rear) is required. This van only requires a C Class licence. Available to volunteer at least once a week. ▪ Police checks and Working with Children checks required before commencement.
If this sounds like something you would love to do, we would like to hear from you.
