Bush For Life Bushcarer – Bush Action Team Days

This is a supervised volunteer role that meets Job Seeker Mutual Obligation requirements.

Fragments of bushland are precious to our state's biodiversity. The Bush For Life program was created in 1994 to help people take practical, hands-on steps to conserve bushland. Our bushcarers protect and restore these vital remnants by removing weeds that compete with native plants for space and resources. Today, Bush For Life bushcarers look after more than 240 sites covering over 4,000 hectares, helping return our valuable bushland to health.

Trees For Life is looking for volunteers to join our Bush Action Team days, held throughout the year across Bush For Life sites, mostly around greater Adelaide and reaching as far south as Victor Harbor and north to the Barossa and Adelaide Hills (please note we don't run activities in January).

Activities run from 9:00am–3:30pm on site. You can come for a few hours, half the day, or the full day, whatever suits you, and you're welcome to meet us on site or hop on our miniBus from Brooklyn Park. If joining for part of the day, please arrive at either 9am, 11am or 1pm.

All volunteers need to wear a long sleeve shirt, long sleeve pants and enclosed shoes; we provide gloves and safety glasses.

If you enjoy the Bush Action Team days and would like to volunteer more regularly, locally, or with more flexibility, the next step is to attend a Bushcare Workshop. This one-day workshop opens the door to more local half-day and full-day bushcare activities, and the option to adopt your own site (please note adopt-a-site hours can't be counted towards Job Seeker hours). You'll need to be a current Trees For Life member to attend a workshop.

No experience necessary, just a willingness to get outdoors and help protect South Australia's native bushland.
