Two Blokes. One Conversation. Once a Week.

Wesley Mission

Wesley Aged Care Volunteer Visitors connects volunteers with older people who may be experiencing loneliness or social isolation.

We are looking for male volunteers to visit older men living in residential aged care in the Toronto area.

Many of these men are now in their late 80s and 90s. They've worked hard, raised families, built communities and lived full lives. Along the way, many have outlived partners, siblings and lifelong mates. Some no longer receive regular visitors.

While their memories may not always be what they once were, the value of companionship remains just as important.

A regular visit might involve sharing a cuppa, talking about the old days, discussing local events, watching a game of sport together or simply sitting and enjoying each other's company.

You don't need any special skills or experience. These men aren't looking for a support worker or a counsellor. They're simply looking for another bloke who is willing to spend some time with them.

Sometimes the best thing you can give is your time and your attention.

We're looking for reliable male volunteers who can commit to regular visits and enjoy conversation, companionship and getting to know people from different walks of life.

As a Wesley volunteer, you'll receive:

  • Ongoing support from your Wesley Volunteer Coordinator
  •  A carefully considered volunteer match
  •  Training and guidance to help you get started
  •  Invitations to volunteer recognition and celebration events

If you can spare an hour a week, we'd love to hear from you.

One hour. One conversation. One bloke making a difference to another bloke's week.
