Could You Brighten Ray's Week with a Chat?
Wesley Aged Care Volunteer Visitors connects volunteers with older people who may be experiencing loneliness or social isolation.
Ray* lives in residential aged care in East Maitland near Greenhills Shopping Centre and enjoys a good conversation. Health issues make it difficult for him to get out and about, so we're looking for a friendly volunteer visitor who can spend time chatting and building a genuine friendship. Due to significant health issues, he spends much of his time in his room and is no longer able to get out and about as he once did.
Ray enjoys one-to-one conversation and values having someone to sit and chat with. He often talks about driving, places he has been and experiences from throughout his life. He appreciates a visitor who is interested in listening, sharing stories and spending quality time together.
While Ray's world has become smaller in recent years, he continues to enjoy connecting with others and getting to know new people. He has formed strong friendships throughout his life and values relationships built on trust, respect and genuine interest in one another.
A volunteer who enjoys conversation and is comfortable spending time with someone in a one-to-one setting would be a wonderful match. No special skills are required, just kindness, patience and a willingness to show up.
Sometimes a good conversation is the best part of the day.
We're looking for a kind and reliable volunteer who can commit to regular visits and enjoys building genuine friendships over time.
