There's No Retirement Age for Friendship

Life is richer when we stay connected to others.

Many older people living in residential aged care miss having someone who visits just because they care. A regular conversation, a shared laugh or simply spending time together can make all the difference to someone's day.

Through Wesley Aged Care Volunteer Visitors, you can spend just one hour a week, or a fortnight, building a genuine friendship with an older person who may be experiencing loneliness or social isolation.

You will be thoughtfully matched with someone who shares similar interests, hobbies or life experiences. Over time, a simple conversation can grow into a meaningful connection built on trust, companionship and shared experiences.

Whether you're chatting about local events, sharing stories from your lives, enjoying a cup of tea or simply spending time together, your visits can become something they genuinely look forward to.

A sense of purpose can start with something as simple as showing up.

We're looking for kind, reliable volunteers who can commit to regular visits and enjoy getting to know someone over time. No special skills or experience are required. Just a willingness to listen, share stories and be a friendly face.

As a Wesley volunteer, you'll receive:

  • Ongoing support from your Wesley Volunteer Coordinator
  • A carefully considered match with an older person
  • Training and guidance to help you get started
  • Invitations to volunteer recognition and celebration events

If you can spare an hour a week, or an hour a fortnight, we'd love to hear from you.

Become a friendly face they look forward to seeing.
