Wesley Aged Care Volunteer Visitors connects volunteers with older people who may be experiencing loneliness or social isolation.

Barry* is in his 70s and enjoys a good conversation. He loves movies and is interested in just about any topic. We're looking for a friendly volunteer visitor who could spend an hour a fortnight chatting, sharing a coffee or simply enjoying good company together.

He now lives in residential aged care. He is a warm, friendly man who is easy to talk to and enjoys spending time with others. As one staff member put it, "If you met him, you'd like him."

Barry enjoys a good conversation and is interested in hearing about other people's lives and experiences. Whether the topic is films, current events, sport, family, travel or everyday life, Barry is happy to chat and get to know new people.

Barry would enjoy simple activities such as sharing a cup of coffee, going for a short outing, or simply sitting together and having a conversation. Most of all, he would appreciate having a regular visitor and someone to spend time with.

A volunteer who is friendly, patient and enjoys connecting with others would be a wonderful match for Barry. We're looking for a kind and reliable volunteer who can commit to regular visits and enjoys building genuine friendships over time.

As a Wesley volunteer, you'll receive:

  • Ongoing support from your Wesley Volunteer Coordinator
  • A carefully considered match with an older person
  • Training and guidance to help you get started
  • Invitations to volunteer recognition and celebration events

If you can spare an hour a week, or an hour a fortnight, we'd love to hear from you.

Sometimes the best conversations begin with a simple hello.
