Aged Care Volunteer Visitor - Male Companion, Multiple Locations
Advertised by Volunteering Central CoastMany older men on the Central Coast have lived long, full lives.
They've worked hard, raised families, served their communities and collected a lifetime of stories along the way.
For some, the circle of people around them has become much smaller. Old mates have passed away, families have moved away, and regular visitors have become few and far between.
That's where you come in.
We're looking for male volunteers who can spend about an hour a week visiting an older man living on the Central Coast.
You don't need any special skills or experience. A good visit might involve sharing a Cupa, talking about the news, chatting about sport, fishing, work, family, cars, local history or simply sitting together and having a yarn. Some of the men we support are living independently at home. Others live in residential aged care. What they have in common is an appreciation for good company and someone who is willing to take the time to listen. Sometimes all it takes is one bloke showing up for another bloke. We're particularly interested in hearing from men who enjoy conversation, building friendships and looking out for others in their community.
