Short Back & Sidewalks is a not-for-profit organisation providing free haircuts and meaningful connection to people experiencing homelessness, hardship and social isolation. Our events create a welcoming, respectful space where people can access a simple service that can make a meaningful difference to how they feel about themselves and how they connect with their community.
We’re looking for a passionate and organised Volunteer Events Coordinator to help us plan, coordinate and deliver our special events, which occur 4 - 5 times per year.
About the role
The Volunteer Events Coordinator will be responsible for helping bring our events to life from communicating with partner organisations to making sure everything runs smoothly on the day.
This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working with people, is highly organised, and wants to contribute to a practical, community-focused cause.
Key responsibilities
- Assist with planning event dates, locations, equipment and logistics
- Liaise with community organisations, homelessness services and event partners
- Coordinate volunteer arrival, set-up and pack-down on event days
- Help ensure events run smoothly, safely and respectfully
- Support the broader Short Back & Sidewalks team with event-related tasks as needed

Commitment
This is a volunteer position. The time commitment will vary depending on upcoming events, with some planning and coordination required between events and attendance required at events where possible.
