What is ACVVS?
The Aged Care Volunteer Visitors Scheme (ACVVS) connects volunteers with older people who may be socially isolated, creating regular friendship, companionship and meaningful connection.
St Vincent’s is looking for volunteers who share our commitment to compassion, excellence, justice and integrity, and who want to bring those values to life through genuine connection with older people.
Jarrod is a former university law lecturer who still enjoys exploring ideas and hearing different points of view. History, politics, world news, trivia and faith can all spark his interest. If you enjoy a thoughtful discussion and are happy to listen as well as share, you may find yourself looking forward to these visits just as much as Jarrod does!

Who might enjoy Jarrod's company?
A curious, respectful person who enjoys conversation, can explore different viewpoints without needing to agree on everything. A reliable and calm volunteer who is committed to keeping the friendship going.
The practical bits
• You must be 18 years or over.
• A Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check is required and is organised and funded by St Vincent's.
• Visits are approximately one hour, at least once a fortnight, with a minimum of 20 visits over 12 months.
• We are looking for someone who can visit consistently and build an ongoing, respectful connection.
Why it matters
Many people living in aged care experience social isolation. Having a regular visitor can help keep someone like Jarrod socially engaged, mentally stimulated and connected to the interests that have shaped their life.
