💛Help end loneliness by sharing a coffee or a chat with ACVVS💛

• Connect with someone experiencing social isolation
• Share garden walks, visits to the cafe or some time sitting in the sun
• Connect in English or German
What is ACVVS?
The Aged Care Volunteer Visitors Scheme (ACVVS) connects volunteers with older people who may be socially isolated, creating regular friendship, companionship and meaningful connection.
St Vincent’s is looking for volunteers who share our commitment to compassion, excellence, justice and integrity, and who want to bring those values to life through genuine connection with older people.
The right volunteer does not need a list of activities. A gentle walk, an interesting topic or simply sitting together over coffee could be enough to build a rewarding connection.
A visit might involve:
• Walking through the garden at an easy pace
• Having coffee or cake at the cafe
• Sharing thoughtful conversation in German or English
• Talking about books, ideas, life or whatever captures your interest that day
A great match could be:
Someone who enjoys conversation and the outdoors, and who is happy for the friendship to develop naturally. German language skills would be welcomed but are not essential.
Requirements for this volunteer opportunity:
• You must be 18 years or over.
• A Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check is required and is organised and funded by St Vincent's.
• Visits are approximately one hour, at least once a fortnight, with a minimum of 20 visits over 12 months.
• We are looking for someone who can visit consistently and build an ongoing, respectful connection.
Why your company matters: 💚
Regular one-to-one time can offer more than an activity - it creates familiarity, continuity and a sense of being, all things that go a long way to reduce loneliness and improve quality of life.
Fancy a walk and a coffee whilst building friendship? ✨
If this sounds like your kind of hour, apply to become a volunteer visitor.
At St Vincent's, we value inclusion and diversity. We are committed to creating an environment that is welcoming, safe, fair and inclusive, and we invite people from all backgrounds to join our caring community.
