The Role

We're looking for a volunteer Secretary to help keep our incorporated association running smoothly. This is a governance role central to our compliance as a registered Inc — you'll be the person who keeps our records, meetings, and statutory obligations in order so the committee can focus on delivering programs to families who need us.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare agendas and take minutes for committee and general meetings
  • Maintain the association's official records, registers, and correspondence
  • Ensure compliance with obligations under the Associations Incorporation Act (Qld) and any relevant ACNC requirements
  • Manage incoming and outgoing correspondence on behalf of the committee
  • Support the committee with document preparation, filing, and record-keeping
  • Assist with maintaining governance policies and procedures

About You

You'll be a good fit if you have either:

  • Experience in not-for-profit governance, compliance, or association administration
  • Strong AI literacy and confidence using AI tools to manage admin, drafting, and compliance tasks — with a willingness to self-teach the governance side, supported by an external consultant

You'll also bring:

  • Reliability and attention to detail
  • Comfort working independently, remotely or in person
  • Good written communication skills

What You'll Get

  • The chance to make a real difference for children and families in South East Queensland
  • Flexible volunteering — around 2–4 hours a week, remote or in person
  • Support from an external governance/compliance consultant as needed
  • Experience in not-for-profit board administration, valuable for those building a governance career
