The Role: In this volunteer role, you’ll be paired with a senior to provide regular social support visits in their home. Activities are guided by shared interests and may include conversation, listening to music, playing board games or simply enjoying a relaxed chat. Visits are approximately 2 hours and focused on building trust, confidence and companionship.

Our Client: You’ll be supporting a male in his 80s to have weekly volunteer companionship support. They live with alone. They have 2 adult children and 4 grandchildren, who are involved but are busy with family and work. Come visit them in their home for a weekly visit for a cuppa and chat.

About You:

  • Lives in and around Grovedale or is happy to travel.
  • Possess clear communication skills.
  • Compassionate, patient and an excellent listener.
  • Passionate about giving back to your community.
  • Conducts yourself with open-mindedness and respect, ensuring the privacy, confidentiality, and dignity of our clients is always maintained.
  • Comfortable using technology to provide feedback and connect with the Volunteer Program.
  • Availability for a flexible six-month commitment.

Time Commitment: 2 hour per week or fortnight, Monday – Friday between 9:00 – 5:00pm. At genU, we’re all about flexibility. Let’s chat and find out the hours which suit you best!
