Love A Greyhound Inc, a registered not-for-profit Greyhound Adoption, Foster & Rehoming Charity located in South East & Central Qld, is seeking volunteers with a love of greyhounds to help coordinate our efforts in North and South Brisbane.
Requirements:
- Experience with greyhounds
- Time to commit after work/weekends
- Driver’s licence and car with suitable space for a dog and large items (beds, crates etc)
- Storage space for foster items at home (bed, crates etc)
- Good communication skills
Main tasks:
- Coordinating with the small volunteer team about the dogs in our care to make arrangements, share updates and support the efforts of the team
- Transporting or arranging transport for dogs from various locations (usually the trainers property or Brisbane Airport) to vet, fosters or new homes
- Coordinating with our preferred vets (Kedron and Moorooka) to organise required appointments and procedures
- Arranging foster carers and supporting them through the foster process with regular communication, check-ins and advice
- Liaising with foster carers to get photos and profiles for dogs when they are ready for adoption
- Signing up new foster carers, clearly explaining the requirements and judging the suitability of them and their home/situation
- Reviewing adoption requests and judging suitability based on knowledge of how the dog is going in foster care
- Conducting yard checks for potential adopters to check their property is suitable
- Support new adopters with advice and regular communication to help settle their new dog and ensure a successful outcome
- Admin – using email, Jotform, Google calendar, Trello and other software – full training provided.
- Attending markets, events, walks, meetups etc as required to promote the charity, fundraise and increase adoptions
- Storage of items required to support foster carers such as beds and crates
