Volunteer Treasurer – Board Member

About the Role
City of Liverpool Meals on Wheels Inc. is seeking a committed and financially minded Volunteer Treasurer to join our Board.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who would like to use their financial skills and experience to support a well-established community organisation that has been serving the Liverpool community for over 60 years.
The Treasurer will work closely with the Board and Service Manager to provide financial oversight, guidance and good governance to the organisation.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide financial oversight and advice to the Board.
- Monitor the organisation’s financial position, cash flow and budget.
- Review monthly financial reports and provide commentary to the Board.
- Assist with the preparation and monitoring of the annual budget.
- Monitor income, expenditure and financial performance.
- Ensure appropriate financial controls and processes are maintained.
- Liaise with the Service Manager, accountant and auditors as required.
- Assist with the preparation of financial information for the Annual General Meeting and other reporting requirements.
- Support the Board in making informed financial and strategic decisions.
- Ensure the organisation meets its financial governance and reporting obligations.
About You
We are looking for someone who:
- Has experience in accounting, finance, bookkeeping, business or a related field.
- Has an understanding of financial management and governance.
- Is comfortable reviewing financial reports and budgets.
- Has good attention to detail and sound financial judgement.
- Can communicate financial information clearly to Board members who may not have a financial background.
- Is willing to contribute their knowledge, experience and time to a community organisation.
- Is committed to the values and purpose of Meals on Wheels and supporting older people and people living with disability in our community.
Previous experience as a Treasurer or Board member is desirable but not essential.

This is an unpaid volunteer Board position. Board meetings are held 6 times in a fiscal year (unless otherwise needed), with the Treasurer expected to attend meetings and provide ongoing financial oversight between meetings as required.
