Advocacy & Support

  1. Provide individual advocacy for families with the child protection department involved in their lives.
  2. Assist families to communicate with government agencies, service providers and community organisations.
  3. Help families prepare for meetings, reviews, or appeals (e.g., child protection, housing).
  4. Promote the rights, safety and wellbeing of children, young people, and vulnerable family members.

Information & Navigation

  1. Offer clear, accurate information about relevant systems (e.g., education, disability, health, social services).
  2. Support families to understand policies, procedures, assessments and decision-making processes.
  3. Connect families to community programs, financial support, counselling and other services.

Case Management & Documentation

  1. Maintain up-to-date case notes, records, and advocacy plans.
  2. Manage a caseload with professionalism, confidentiality and cultural competence.
  3. Monitor progress, follow up actions, and evaluate outcomes with families.

Collaboration & Community Engagement

  1. Build and maintain positive relationships with service providers and government departments.
  2. Participate in interagency meetings and case conferences.
  3. Contribute to community education, workshops and outreach activities that support family empowerment.

Systemic Advocacy & Continuous Improvement

  1. Identify trends, barriers, and systemic issues affecting families.
  2. Provide feedback to management on service gaps and policy challenges.
  3. Contribute to program development, evaluation and quality improvement activities.
