Could you spare a little time to brighten the week of an older person living in a residential care facility in Bexley?

We’re looking for a warm, friendly Cantonese-speaking volunteer who enjoys conversation, connection and getting to know people.

For an older person, hearing a familiar language and being able to share stories about life, family and culture can mean so much. Sometimes, it’s simply having someone to talk to, laugh with and enjoy a cup of tea.

Your visits might include:

  • Having a relaxed chat over tea or coffee
  • Sharing stories and memories
  • Listening to music
  • Enjoying favourite hobbies
  • Simply spending quality time together

A regular visit once a week or fortnight can help an older person feel seen, valued and connected, while giving you the opportunity to build a meaningful friendship.

No previous volunteering experience is required — just kindness, reliability and a willingness to listen and share your time.

Volunteers must be 18 years or older and complete a National Police Check. You’ll receive induction, training and ongoing support from your Program Coordinator.

Speak Cantonese? Have a little time to share? You could make a real difference in someone’s week. We’d love to hear from you.
