Every Older Person Has a Story. Will You Be There to Hear It?

Every person has a story.
Some have raised families, built careers, travelled widely, served their communities or witnessed remarkable changes throughout their lifetime. Yet many older people living in residential aged care have few opportunities to share these experiences with someone new.
Through Wesley Aged Care Volunteer Visitors, you can spend just one hour a week building a genuine friendship with an older person who may be experiencing loneliness or social isolation.
You will be thoughtfully matched with someone who shares similar interests, hobbies or life experiences. Over time, a simple conversation can grow into a meaningful connection built on trust, companionship and shared stories.
Whether you're reminiscing about local places, discussing shared interests, learning about life in decades past or simply enjoying each other's company, your visits can become something they genuinely look forward to.
The best stories are shared, not forgotten.
We are looking for kind, reliable volunteers who can commit to regular visits and enjoy getting to know someone over time. No special skills or experience are required. Just a willingness to listen, share stories and be a friendly face.
As a Wesley volunteer, you'll receive:
- Ongoing support from your Wesley Volunteer Coordinator
- A carefully considered match with an older person
- Training and guidance to help you get started
- Invitations to volunteer recognition and celebration events
