WestCycle Board of Directors: Expressions of Interest 2026

WestCycle is the peak body for cycling and riding across Western Australia, representing everyone, whether they are occasional riders, daily commuters, eRideable users, mountain bikers or dedicated cyclists. The Board sets strategic direction for an organisation whose advocacy shapes state cycling and eRideable policy and infrastructure and whose programs reach riders across WA.

We are seeking two Independent Directors to join the Board for three-year terms, as part of the 2026 Board Appointments process under WestCycle's Constitution. This is an opportunity to bring your skills and experience to an organisation navigating growth, with real influence over decisions that affect WA's riding community. The board role is voluntary.

As a non-executive Director, the role is focused on governance, strategy and oversight rather than operational management. We are seeking individuals who can contribute to Board level decision-making and strategic direction.

Consistent with the Board Skills Matrix, for one of these two roles, we are particularly seeking a Director with financial expertise, ideally CPA or CA qualified with experience in finance, accounting, audit or financial management. We further encourage applications from women to support a balanced Board.

Directors attend eight Board meetings a year, plus WestCycle events where they represent the organisation. Depending on skills and interest, an appointee may also join the Finance & Risk Committee, which meets four to six times a year.

Good governance depends on a Board that reflects the community it serves. We particularly encourage expressions of interest from:

  • Finance and accounting professionals
  • Individuals seeking their first Board appointment and able to contribute to new perspectives
  • People with disability, whose perspective helps keep our programs genuinely accessible
  • People from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds
  • Non-riders able to bring a broader perspective to the board

What you'll bring

  • An understanding of good governance and the role of a non-executive director
  • Strategic thinking and sound judgement in Board-level decisions
  • Strong communication and stakeholder relationship skills
  • A genuine interest in WestCycle's purpose and direction
  • The time to meet Board responsibilities

Other capability areas identified through the Board Skills Matrix that would strengthen an application include sponsorship and fundraising, human resources, law, IT and AI, communications and public relations, and commercialisation and business development.

Please submit your EOI to [email protected] providing the following:

  1. Cover letter outlining your suitability for the role
  2. Resume

Applications close 05:00pm, 18th September 2026.

Once applications are received, the Board Appointments Panel will develop a shortlist for interviews, based upon the candidate attributes, the ability to support the delivery of the strategic plan and meet the requirements as determined by the skills matrix.

The position will be determined by a vote of the Organisation Members at the AGM on 23rd November 2026.
