Gala Ball Event Volunteers – 2026 Big Dreams Gala Ball

The Pyjama Foundation is seeking enthusiastic, reliable and confident volunteers to join us for our 2026 Big Dreams Gala Ball on Saturday 31st October 2026 in Brisbane.

The Gala Ball is an important fundraising event supporting our Love of Learning Program, which recruits, screens and trains volunteer Pyjama Angels to mentor children and young people living in out-of-home care.

Key Duties

Volunteers will assist our event team with:

• Welcoming and assisting guests
• Guest registration and check-in
• Raffle ticket sales and digital payments
• Using Square payment terminals/devices
• Supporting live and silent auction activities
• Answering guest questions and providing directions
• Assisting with event setup and pack-down
• General event and guest support

We are particularly looking for volunteers who are confident using Square or other digital payment systems. Experience in hospitality, retail, events or customer service is highly regarded.

Skills & Experience

We're looking for people who are:

• Friendly, approachable and confident with guests
• Comfortable using technology and processing digital payments
• Reliable, organised and professional
• Comfortable working as part of a team
• Positive and willing to assist wherever needed

Previous event experience is welcome but not essential.

What You'll Receive

By volunteering, you'll have the opportunity to gain event and customer service experience, meet new people, work behind the scenes at a Brisbane gala and support a meaningful cause.

Dinner and non-alcoholic drinks will be provided.

The Impact

Your support will help us deliver a successful fundraising event and raise vital funds for the Love of Learning Program. These funds help us recruit and train Pyjama Angels and provide resources that support children in out-of-home care to build confidence, develop their literacy and reach their potential.

Event Details

Date: Saturday 31st October 2026
Volunteer hours: 5:00pm – 11:30pm
Event finishes: 11:00pm
Location: Royal on the Park, 152 Alice Street, Brisbane, QLD 
Dress code: Black tie – mask optional

Volunteers will remain until 11:30pm to assist with the conclusion of the event and bump-out.
