Bridge Tutor Volunteer Instructor Wanted – Wesley School for Seniors

Do you enjoy the strategy, skill, and social connection that comes with playing Bridge? Are you passionate about helping seniors learn, stay mentally active, and build community through this timeless card game? If so, we’d love to welcome you to our team!
We are seeking a volunteer Bridge Tutor who can introduce beginners to the fundamentals of Bridge and help continuing players strengthen their skills in a supportive, social environment.
What You Bring
- Knowledge and Experience
- Confident Bridge Player: You have solid experience playing Bridge and a good understanding of bidding, play of the hand, and basic defensive principles.
- Clear Understanding of Bridge Fundamentals: You can confidently teach essential concepts such as:
- card rankings and suits
- bidding basics
- declarer play strategies
- defensive techniques
- partnership communication and etiquette
- Structured Approach: You can guide learners step‑by‑step at a beginner-friendly pace.
- Teaching & Communication Skills
- Clear Explanations: You can break down concepts simply and patiently, supporting learners with different levels of experience.
- Encouragement: You create a positive, social, and engaging learning environment where seniors feel comfortable asking questions and practising new skills.
- Adaptability: You adjust your teaching style to suit beginner players as well as those looking to refresh or improve their game.
- Community Spirit
- Supportive Presence: You enjoy working with seniors and bring warmth, patience, and a sense of fun to the classroom.
- Group Facilitation: You can confidently guide group exercises, discussions, and practice play.

Volunteer Commitment
As a volunteer Bridge instructor, you’ll lead:
- weekly sessions lasting 1 - 1.5 hour(s)
- anytime between 10am to 4pm from Monday to Friday. (subject to room availability)
Location
We’re conveniently located in Sydney’s CBD, just a short walk from Town Hall or St James station.
