Yoga Volunteer Instructor Wanted – Wesley School for Seniors

Do you have a passion for yoga and a heart for supporting seniors on their health and wellness journey? If so, we’d love for you to join our community!
We are seeking a volunteer Yoga Instructor who can bring calm, compassion, and expertise to our senior students.
What You Bring
- Passion and Empathy
- Heart for Seniors: You enjoy working with older adults and bring patience, kindness, and understanding to every class.
- Awareness of Aging: You’re familiar with how age-related changes, common health conditions, and mobility limitations may affect seniors—and you teach with these considerations in mind.
- Yoga Expertise and Safety
- Yoga Certification (Required): You hold a recognised yoga instructor qualification (e.g., Yoga Australia, Yoga Alliance, or equivalent).
- Senior‑Appropriate Yoga Knowledge: You are skilled in teaching gentle, low‑impact yoga practices suitable for seniors, such as chair yoga, stretching, accessible balance work, and simple breathing techniques.
- Modifications and Safety: You confidently adapt poses to accommodate different fitness levels, mobility challenges, and medical conditions.
- Teaching & Facilitation Skills
- Clear Communication: You explain movements and breathing techniques in a simple, supportive way.
- Adaptability: You tailor your teaching style to suit a wide range of abilities.
- Encouragement: You help seniors feel confident, empowered, and motivated to stay active and centred.

Volunteer Commitment
As a volunteer yoga tutor, you’ll lead:
- weekly sessions lasting 1 hour
- anytime between 10am to 4pm from Monday to Friday. (subject to room availability)
- open for discussion for online class
Location
We’re conveniently located in Sydney’s CBD, just a short walk from Town Hall or St James station.
