Male Maltese-Speaking Volunteer Needed: Bring Music and Conversation to Joseph!

Are you looking for a meaningful way to give back to your community? Ageing with Grace believes that social connections are essential to the well-being of older people. We are seeking enthusiastic, compassionate, friendly Volunteer Visitors to spend time with older people who are at risk of social isolation and loneliness.

We are currently searching for a friendly, engaging volunteer (18 years of age or older, preferably male) to spend some quality one-on-one time with Joseph.

About Joseph:
Joseph is currently struggling with social isolation and deeply misses communicating in his native language and connecting with his culture. He would love to find a companion to share a 1:1 conversation in Maltese and listen to traditional Maltese music together. A male volunteer is preferred to help Joseph feel most comfortable as they build a rewarding friendship.

The Role:

  • What: 1:1 companionship and cultural connection in Joseph's home.
  • Activities: Chatting in Maltese, sharing stories, and enjoying Maltese music together.
  • Time Commitment: Flexible hours to suit your schedule (weekly or fortnightly visits).

About You:

  • You are male, 18 years of age or older.
  • You can speak and understand the Maltese language.
  • You possess a kind heart, compassion, and reliability.
  • You enjoy sharing cultural connections and listening to music.

About the Program:
This position is supported by the Aged Care Volunteer Visitor Scheme (ACVVS). The ACVVS is a government-funded program designed to combat social isolation and help develop social connections.

By giving just an hour or two of your time, you can make a massive difference in Joseph's life, helping him stay connected to his heritage and community.
